Thompson Art Advisory is an art advisory and valuation consulting firm which prioritizes client confidentiality, ethics, and due diligence in all areas of service. The firm was founded by Emily Thompson who has over two decades of experience in art market research and valuation.
With a specialization in post-war, contemporary and emerging art, Ms. Thompson has worked as a fine art specialist in the private banking sector, and has worked as a senior appraiser at international appraisal firms and as an appraiser for the United States Treasury.
Ms. Thompson is a certified member of the Appraiser's Association of America (AAA), a member of PAIAM (Professional Advisors to the International Art Market) and maintains board member positions with the Estate Planning Council of New York (EPCNYC) and the Phi Beta Kappa Society of New York (PBKNYC). She is a Young Contemporaries Member of the Children's Museum of New York (CMA).
With undergraduate and graduate degrees in Art History and English from Hobart and William Smith Colleges and New York University respectively, Ms. Thompson maintains adjunct faculty positions at the Sotheby’s Institute of Art leading courses on art valuation and methodology, and has lectured at NYU’s Arts Administration program and at various industry groups on topics such as valuation, market trends, and best practices in collecting and art portfolio management.
